The GCDS Maker Faire on April 24, 2018 is an opportunity for classroom teachers, media and arts specialists, technology integrators and administrators to gather and learn from each other.
The day will kick off with a keynote address from Colleen Graves, co-author of "Big Book of Makerspace Projects and Challenge Based Learning in the Library Makerspace," followed by hands-on workshops and activities from some of Connecticut's most innovative teachers, If you are embracing the do-it-together spirit or creating and making with your students and would like to share your ideas with other educators please join us!
Keynote Speaker Colleen Graves
Colleen Graves is a school librarian, maker, and blogger, obsessed with Learning Commons transformations, Makerspaces, electronics, technology education, making stuff, and getting girls involved in STEM. She offers the unique perspective of starting and creating two different makerspaces and Girl STEM groups in established public schools. She is an avid maker and author and has co-written three books: The Big Book of Makerspace Projects: Inspiring Makers to Experiment, Create, and Learn; Challenge Based Learning in the School Library Makerspace; and 20 Makey Makey Projects for the Evil Genius.
In 2014, she was awarded the School Library Journal School Librarian of the Year Co-finalist award. In 2016, she joined the Library Journal Mover and Shaker class as an "Innovator."
