Network and Computer Systems Administrators are projected to have above-average growth in the workforce. In the Information Technology Academy, students learn the skills required to begin a successful career in the network and computer systems/support industry. Academic and technical classes combine information technology workplace knowledge and skills using industry-standard certifications and curriculum. Partnering with Lee College, students can earn both high school credit and college credit for many of their academic and technical courses. Four years with the Information Technology Academy will lead students to a Business & Industry endorsement, a college associate degree or certificate, and a Performance Acknowledgment if they earn CompTIA A+, Network+, or CISCO certifications. Seniors may participate in internships and scholarships are available to graduates.
The Information Technology Career Academy graduates are critical thinking problem solvers, engaged in real-world experiences and prepared for college and careers.
The Information Technology Career Academy will engage students in critical thinking and high-level academic courses in an environment that is student-centered, technologically enriched and respects and supports all learners. We will provide students with the knowledge, skills and real-world experience in computer maintenance, networking and cybersecurity to be successful in their post-secondary pursuits.
1) 50% of IT Academy 9th grade cohort will earn CompTIA A+ certification by June 30, 2021.
2) The Information Technology Academy students will take ownership in the academy by selecting 2 ambassadors for the freshman cohort, contributing to the Advisory Board and planning at least 2 activities this school year (one fall / one spring).
