Third Grade

Welcome to 3rd grade. In 3rd grade students will be expected to know their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts families, and use them in equations and two-step problems. Other Math themes will include: number patterns, read and make graphs, add four-digit numbers, subtract with regrouping, find area and perimeter of polygons. 

It is extremely important that your student reads at least 20 minutes at home every day. Third graders are expected to understand and find the main idea, use context clues to learn new vocabulary, compare and contrast information, etc. In addition, in writing students are expected to write paragraphs using transition words, correct punctuation, and write a variety of genres such as letters and personal narratives.
