Russian Class Syllabus for 6th Grade

Sixth graders have Russian every day. The course involves the study of Grammar and Literature. On Mondays and Tuesdays we study the language, and on Wednesday and Thursday - literature.

Language classes consist of studying Morphology (Parts of Speech), repeating the basic rules of the grammar, and writing dictation. Once a trimester we write an essay that helps students express their thoughts correctly.

In literature, we read the works of Russian classics: Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol, Turgenev, Chekhov, Krylov, and others. This is done through an in class commented reading, and supported with a discussion towards the end.

Once a trimester, student's reading technique is checked for improvement. There is also a poem recitation requirement where students are asked to recite a poem by heart, in front of the audience.
