Grace Classical Academy is a homeschool cooperative located in Canton, GA. We are a 501(c)(3) organization that exists to educate our children and raise them in the "nurture and admonition of the Lord".
GCA uses the classical method of education. Classical education realizes that children have developmental stages that have different capabilities, and that education should work within those stages to achieve the best outcome for students. Not working within this framework can lead to two undesirable outcomes: a student can be pushed too hard in the early stages, which leads to frustration and burn out, or older students may not be challenged enough, which leads to boredom and lost opportunities. This was the standard for formal education that facilitated the birth of Western Civilization.

The Grammar Stage (4 years to 4th grade) - In this the stage, a child's mind is like a sponge absorbing all types of facts without questioning why things are. Memorization is key at this stage.

The Logic Stage (5th to 8th grades) - At this stage children start to try to understand why the facts are the facts. They understand cause and effect, and challenge the reasons for these connections to understand them.

The Rhetoric Stage (high school years) - Now that students know the facts and reasons behind them, they can learn to argue and defend these positions. They can also go deeper to understand the logic that goes into the reasons in order to provide a defense for their positions.
