Providing a good English education for our students has always been the core mission of the English department, and it is with this goal in mind that we have sailed through another turbulent year in the education sector, with the aftermath of the pandemic being the main challenge. We are happy to report that despite the uncertainty and challenges brought about by the pandemic and school suspension over the past few years, our students have prevailed and achieved as much as they can in the public examination, with roughly 20% of our S6 graduates meeting related English results requirements and securing a place in university in the past year.
There are two main areas of focuses in terms of English language education in our school. In order to develop a solid curriculum to help students build a good English foundation and achieve good results in public examination, we dedicate time to constantly renew and refine our teaching materials, develop school-based vocabulary learning programme, provide Saturday English tutorial classes. To provide a rich English environment for students to immerse in, we have been developing the large scale English Friday programme, publishing English newspaper and English anthology annually, and promoting a reading programme incorporating the award winning online reading platform Raz-Kids.
