The Gibón Journal, published by the University Research Council of Ateneo de Naga University (AdNU), is committed to the principle of open access in the dissemination of knowledge. All articles published in the journal are freely and immediately accessible to the public under the belief that research rooted in local realities and scholarly rigor should be a common good, available to all without financial, legal, or technical barriers.
As a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal with a regional focus, Gibón contributes to AdNU’s mission of fostering research that engages both academic and community audiences. It serves as a platform for local and national scholars whose work intersects with fields such as environmental science, philosophy, gender studies, education, governance, and sustainable development—particularly within the context of the Bicol Region.
In alignment with AdNU’s vision of becoming the premier center of research and public scholarship in the region, Gibón adopts an open-access policy to maximize the visibility, reach, and impact of scholarly work. This policy reflects AdNU’s broader institutional commitment to social transformation through the democratization of knowledge and the advancement of regional scholarship.
All content published in the Gibón Journal is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are properly cited.
By embracing open access, Gibón seeks to:
Empower educators, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders with knowledge that is relevant, credible, and accessible;
Foster inclusive academic dialogue within and beyond the Bicol Region;
Contribute to a more equitable global research environment by amplifying underrepresented voices and regional perspectives.
Gibón and its allied publications are part of AdNU’s expanding research ecosystem, which upholds Jesuit values of service, excellence, and engagement with the marginalized. Through open access, we reaffirm our commitment to scholarship that matters—for Bicol and for the world.
