Katie Snow serves as faculty and Director of Clinical Education for the Cardio-Respiratory Care Science Program at Great Basin College. With extensive experience across multiple healthcare roles, she began her career as a medical assistant, progressing through roles as a phlebotomist and EMT before earning her Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Respiratory Care. She is a strong advocate for lifelong learning and believes in the importance of continuing education. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), all from the University of Nevada, Reno.
As a respiratory therapist, Katie gained critical care experience in an 800-bed teaching hospital, including specialized work in Level 4 NICU, PICU, and adult ICU settings. For five years, she traveled as a respiratory therapist, spending two years with a pediatric transport team before moving to Reno, NV, in 2011, where she decided to call it home. She is passionate about Reno’s abundant outdoor opportunities and enjoys exploring the Sierra Buttes, Sierra Nevada, and Plumas National Forest with her dog Blue.
In Reno, Katie met Jason Farnsworth, the Cardio-Respiratory Care Program Director, and together they are pioneering the first respiratory therapy program in Northern Nevada. Her research interests align with her commitment to student success, focusing on helping students overcome learning anxiety and enhancing their learning skills. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Clinical Education at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Katie serves as the treasurer for the Nevada Society for Respiratory Care and is an active member of the American Association for Respiratory Care and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
