Leyton Más is a community-led carnival and cultural celebration that brings together carnival arts, steel pan, choirs, sound systems, schools, artists, volunteers and local communities in a vibrant expression of culture, creativity, identity and belonging.
Each year, thousands of people take part in free workshops, performances, volunteering opportunities and public celebrations across Waltham Forest. Together, we create a festival that is rooted in participation, celebrates African-Caribbean cultural heritage and brings communities together through music, creativity and joy.
Despite the success and growing impact of Leyton Más, the festival now faces a significant funding gap following unsuccessful funding applications and increasing pressure on public arts funding.
We remain committed to delivering a free, accessible and community-led festival in 2026, but we cannot do it alone.
That is why we are launching the Save Leyton Más campaign and inviting residents, businesses, community organisations and supporters to help secure the future of the festival.
Your support will help deliver:
Schools and community workshops, costume making and creative participation activities.
Skills development, mentoring, volunteering and pathways into creative industries.
Led by the Windrush Parade, bringing communities together in a joyful celebration of culture and creativity.
Featuring Foundation Sounds, DeJaVu FM, Sabrina Sounds and more, celebrating the rich traditions of sound system culture.
Delroy Murray's Big Tune Singalong Band, the Joyful Noise Choir Showcase and community music performances.
A celebration of steel pan music, performance, learning and cultural exchange.
A borough-wide programme of cultural activity, performances, workshops and community events.
Leyton Más is also committed to environmental responsibility. Through reuse, repair and sustainable making practices, we transform reclaimed materials into costumes, puppets, banners and carnival art while promoting low-waste community celebration and creative climate action.
"Leyton Más has become an important cultural platform for creativity, participation and community celebration in Waltham Forest. We are determined to keep the festival free, accessible and community-led, but we now need support from the wider public, local businesses and partners to help make that possible."
