FLU

Influenza is an extremely contagious virus of the respiratory tract (nose, throat, and lungs) that can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia and the worsening of other chronic health conditions. Flu symptoms may include but are not limited to; fever, headache, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, fatigue, and muscle/body aches.

The areas in the school where the flu virus lives most:

1. Desk/table tops and chairs

2. Door handles and light switches

3. Faucet handles

4. Pencil sharpeners

5. Computer keypads, mouse, touch screens.

Follow Good Health Guidelines:

Washing your hands with soap and water is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of germs! Remind students to cough and sneeze in their elbow sleeve, blow their nose as needed and throw their tissue directly in the trash can (washing their hands with soap and water immediately after), and drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated. Daily disinfecting (with county approved MSDS solution) of the hot spot areas in the classroom will assist with preventing the spread of germs. Eating right, exercising, and getting plenty of rest will help to boost your immune system and fight off the effects of the cold and flu virus.
