The Delta Fellows program intends to transform the approach to teacher growth. It provides powerful and unique opportunities for continued growth and collaboration to teachers who exhibit the potential for leadership among their peers. Delta Fellows allows teacher leaders the opportunity to promote personal & systemic instructional growth in such a way that best practices of instruction become embedded into the culture of Gaston County Schools.

A number of values and dispositions make certain individuals ideally suited for teacher leadership. Effective teacher leaders are open-minded and respectful of others' views. They display optimism and enthusiasm, confidence and decisiveness. They persevere and do not permit setbacks to derail an important initiative they are pursuing. On the other hand, they are flexible and willing to try a different approach if the first effort runs into roadblocks.
This includes participants in P50, SREB, Pinnacle, School Leaders, and Assistant Principals who show the initiative to grow and support the culture shift in GCS High Schools.
Participants will apply in pairs or groups of three so that the network of support is built from the beginning and reflection/feedback is available in a structured way without coaching from district level.
