Caring for your Chromebook

Students are responsible for the general care of their Chromebook and should take all necessary steps to ensure that the Chromebook is returned at the end of the year in the same condition in which the student originally received it.

Chromebooks will be inspected for damages at the end of each school year and any fees that result from user damage to the Chromebook will be issued. The Chromebooks are meant for educational use only and should not be used for personal or recreational activities nor should they be used by any user other than the assigned student enrolled at Gaston County Schools. Be sure to report a lost or damaged Chromebook to a school teacher or administrator as soon as possible. Below is a list of best practices to ensure that your Chromebook remains in good working condition:

• Treat your Chromebook as you would any valuable electronic device.
• When not being used, store the Chromebook in a secure place, out of sight.
• Do not handle by the screen, and be gentle with the keyboard, trackpad, and ports.
• Do not spray or wipe the Chromebook with any windex, household cleaner or wipes. You may clean your Chromebook keys and screen gently with a lightly moistened soft cloth.
• Do not add stickers or markings to the Chromebook.
• Do not eat or drink near the Chromebook.
• Avoid leaving the Chromebook in extreme heat or cold.
• Do not lend your Chromebook to anyone.
• Report any damage to your teacher or school administrator immediately.
