Graduation Requirements

NC Course of Study Requirements:

Students entering the ninth grade in 2009-2010 or later must follow the Future Ready Course of Study to receive a NC high school diploma. Earn 28 credits as required by local standards set forth by the Gaston County Board of Education.


End of Course (EOC) Test Requirements:

Students must earn passing scores on three essential end of course tests: Biology, English 10, and Math I.


High School Endorsements:

Students receiving a NC high school diploma may qualify for High School Endorsements. Students enrolled in North Carolina high schools shall have the opportunity to earn Endorsements to their High School Diploma that identify a particular area of focused study.


2019-2020 GCS High School Curriculum Guide:

The 2019-2020 Curriculum Guide is a website available to parents and students to assist with high school planning. The Guide instructs and enables individuals to better understand NC graduation requirements and also outlines all courses offered in high schools in Gaston County.


GCS Curriculum & Instruction:

The GCS Curriculum & Instruction department offers parents and students information about curriculum and offers support and instruction to teachers and schools so students achieve 21st Century competencies.


GCS Virtual Learning:
