I hope this letter finds you all eagerly anticipating the start of a brand new school year, because I know I am beyond thrilled to be part of the amazing Belmont Middle School community! My name is Christopher Baity, and I am honored to be your 8th Grade Math teacher this year.
My journey in the world of education began in the picturesque city of Lakeland, Florida, where I discovered my passion for teaching. I pursued my undergraduate studies at Southeastern University, which not only equipped me with knowledge but also instilled in me a deep love for guiding young minds on their learning paths.
At the outset of my teaching career, I had the privilege of working at Victory Christian Academy, a private school in Lakeland. Those initial two years were filled with joy as I witnessed the incredible growth and development of my students. However, life took an exciting turn when my family and I decided to return to Gaston County, the place we proudly call home. It was here, at East Gaston, that I began my journey with Gaston County Schools, teaching Algebra 1.
As I step into my 9th year with GCS, I cannot contain my excitement to join the Wildcats at Belmont Middle School. Your eagerness to learn and the school's vibrant atmosphere have already left an indelible impression on me, and I am eager to contribute to the flourishing academic environment at Belmont.
But my passion for education doesn't stop with my classroom teaching! I am currently pursuing further studies at NC State University's Graduate School, where I am immersing myself in the fascinating world of Math Education. My dedication to continuous learning and growth stems from my desire to provide the best possible learning experiences for all of you.
As we embark on this journey together, let's embrace challenges with enthusiasm and curiosity. Together, we will explore the fascinating world of mathematics, from foundational concepts to the intricacies of Math 1 and 8th Grade Math. My goal is to not only impart knowledge but also to foster a supportive and nurturing environment where each of you can thrive academically and personally.
I am truly looking forward to getting to know each one of you and being a part of your academic and personal growth. Let us create a wonderful year filled with discovery, growth, and memorable moments. Together, we will navigate the world of math, overcome obstacles, and celebrate our achievements as proud Belmont Middle School Wildcats!
Go Wildcats!
I have been happily married for 18 years to my lovely wife, Brainne Baity, who works at Daimler Trucks. Together, we cherish our time with our three fun-loving boys - Kale, Kaden, and Karson. We enjoy sports, the great outdoors, and fun games as a family. Their love and support inspire my passion for teaching, and I am thrilled to be part of the Belmont Middle School community as your Math 1 and 8th Grade Math teacher. Let's make this academic year one filled with growth, learning, and shared joys as we embark on this journey together.
I have enjoyed soccer for more than 20 years. What started off as a simple fan for Livepool FC has evolved into a family who enjoys watching, chanting, and traveling to see LFC and Atlanta United. I currently coach the South Point Varsity team and work in the summer for the semi-pro team the Charlotte Eagles.
We have 3 crazy dogs. Starting with our Lab, Molly who loves the water and enjoys saying hello face to face. Moses is our high energy, ball-retrieving Australian Shepard. Lastly the big white polar bear, Maggie, always lets us know if there something or someone outside that shouldn't be there.
At NC State I am earning my Master of Mathematics Education in middle grades (6-9) and high school (9-12). The program concentrates on pedagogical content knowledge, disciplinary content knowledge and technological innovation in improving schooling which is a defining characteristic of the master’s program. Through the master’s program I will further develop my instructional expertise, extend my knowledge of learners, deepen my subject matter knowledge, use educational research methods, and engage in professional leadership activities. Go Pack!
