The primary role of the Preschool Intervention & Referral Specialist (PIRS) is to provide coaching to the teachers to enhance their use of the Pyramid Model practice within their classrooms. The Pyramid Model is a framework of evidence-based practices for promoting young children’s healthy social and emotional development. The PIRS provides continual support and coaches teachers to strengthen their implementation of the Pyramid Model for promoting social and emotional competence with their students.
As needed, the PIRS will consult with a team - Preschool Intervention and Referral Team (PIRT), to provide strategies and possible interventions for the teachers to implement in the classroom to aid in a student meeting their fullest potential.
