The Webb Orchestra Program has a rich tradition of excellence and quality. We are 180 students strong, and serve students from all over GISD. Our success centers on the pursuit of excellence, pride, commitment to learning, and the willingness to work hard to achieve a common goal. As a member of the Webb Orchestras you will make long-lasting friendships and develop a sense of camaraderie that is unique to our musical organizations.

We offer four levels of Orchestra, so there is one that will fit any student's needs and ability.

Beginner Orchestra
Beginner Orchestra
This is an entry level orchestra, where no musical experience is needed.
Class expectations:
Performance of concert music as assigned by the director
Developing of individual skills and ensemble skills
Participate in at least One even in the Solo and Ensemble Contest
Attendance at section rehearsals and or combined rehearsals before or after school is required
Prepare music for the spring music festival
Chamber Orchestra
Chamber Orchestra
This is an auditioned group where at least one year of playing is recommended. Students will continue in their instrumental development
Class expectations:
Performance of concert music as assigned by the director
Developing of individual skills and ensemble skills
Participate in at least One even in the Solo and Ensemble Contest
Attendance at section rehearsals and or combined rehearsals before or after school is required
Prepare music for the spring music festival
Philharmonic

(Non Varsity)

This is an auditioned and competitive group, meaning they attend the annual UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluations. At least one year of playing is required.

Performance of concert music as assigned by the director
Developing of individual skills and ensemble skills
Participate in at least One even in the Solo and Ensemble Contest
Attendance at section rehearsals and or combined rehearsals before or after school is required ( 7 weeks-fall/ 7 weeks-spring )
Prepare music for the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest
Prepare music for the spring music festival
Students in these competitive orchestras are expected to fully participate in all performance activities, including approved local trips
Symphonic

(Varsity)

This is an auditioned and competitive group, meaning they attend the annual UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluations. At least one year of playing is required, 2-3 is recommended
Class expectations:
Performance of concert music as assigned by the director
Developing of individual skills and ensemble skills
Prepare the All-Region music during the fall semester (SYM)
All- Region Audition in October (SYM)
Participate in at least One even in the Solo and Ensemble Contest
Attendance at section rehearsals and or combined rehearsals before or after school is required ( 7 weeks-fall/ 7 weeks-spring )
Prepare music for the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest
Prepare music for the spring music festival
