Students follow the same curriculum with modified and enhanced requirements based on the specified area the student is gifted in. We usually utilize the first cycle to monitor and see what area each student excels in.
We still continue to have students complete mechanical practices with the same requirements, since we try to have them practice abilities out of their comfort zone. When it comes to our main projects, that is where we modify the instructions to our GT students. Their rubric will have different requirements compared to their peers, requirements that cater to the student's interest and present a challenge to their technique/intellect. This does not mean the number of requirements will increase, only the detailing of the requirements. For example, there may be a change in the size, the subject matter, the idea, or even the media being used to create the artwork. For assignments that require using analyzing skills, questions are enhanced to encourage differentiation in higher level thinking compared to the wording of questions other students would have.
