First Year Teachers (FYTs)
are assigned a 1:1 Teacher Mentor by their campus administrator.
meet with their mentors once a week.
complete three full days of onboarding during GISD's New Employee Events. July 23-26, 2024.
attend 4 Lead Mentor Meetings that cover various chapters from the New Teacher Induction Notebook.
attend First Year Teacher Academy that aligns with our new teacher induction curriculum.
may complete one observation, facilitated by their mentor or a campus instructional coach.
attend professional learning events during the school year, to improve content knowledge and pedagogy.
