Timelines

On this page we will host timelines for the major university application processes. As a broad overview, please see below what students and parents should be thinking about in each term for Year 12 and 13.

University Application Timelines

Year 12

Year 13

Term 1

  • Engage with the critical reading tutor programme and start wider reading in areas of interest

  • Register for winter/spring SATs and/or ACTs

  • Destinations programme in tutor time and engage with Unifrog and universities-matching task

  • Research and record information about the matched universities

  • Attend university talks/visits/lectures online or in-person

  • Personal Statement finished

  • UCAS Application

  • Earlier deadline for Oxbridge/Medicine/Veterinary

  • Book and sit the admissions assessments

  • EA and ED deadlines - SAT prep. Common App essays and recommendations

  • Regular decision - SAT prep, essays and applications

  • Mock Interviews (and the real-thing!)

Term 2

  • Use mock results to make realistic choices and targets for future exams

  • Engage in the HE tutor programme focusing on PS and 'brag sheets'

  • First attempt at SAT / ACT

  • Attend university visits, open days, sample lectures, online videos

  • Research courses, what modules sound good? Are placement opportunities included?

  • 1:1 meeting with your HE Advisor

  • Check and monitor decisions - act on requests for information

  • Final research about meeting offers and selecting the firm and insurance choices

  • Prepare for visa requirements

  • Plan for transcript requests for US, Canada, Asia and European applications

  • Finish any Regular Decision applications

Term 3

  • Continue researching universities and courses

  • 1:1 meeting with HE Advisor

  • HE Days at the end of term

  • AS Exams - your predictions are based on these!

  • Make final decisions

  • Complete any documents required for visa/cas/confirmation of places

  • Request for examining boards to send direct to institution if required

  • Discuss alternative options such as gap years and clearing

  • Research and secure flights and accommodation at university
