What topics are taught for the IGCSE English Literature course?
We follow the Cambridge syllabus for both courses in English and students gain two IGCSES. During the two-year programme, you will study Poetry, Prose (a novel) and Drama. You will have the opportunity to study a collection of poetry that covers a wide range of themes including the relationship between man and nature, power, memory, and childhood. For the novel, you will study a popular and evocative piece of literature that explores the human condition, and which enables you to delve deep into an exploration of human behaviours and motivations. You will also study a classic play, exploring the playwright’s use of dramatic techniques through your own performances, and evaluating the effects on the audience.
Why should you study this course?
The IGCSE English Literature course is a great opportunity to explore some fantastic modern and classic literature whilst also honing your reading, writing and speaking skills. Although it is a challenging course that requires hard work and sustained focus, it is also hugely rewarding, and will certainly change the way in which you view the world.
