Reminders
It's helpful to be reminded of the present in the present. It makes life so much easier and more meaningful. The right display, with its reminders, can trigger massive creativity.
Reflecting
To see what's going on in my mind and in my heart when I'm totally still, is awesome. It's like I'm looking into a clear lake when that happens. So much good stuff is seen, I must capture it before it disappears into the ether.
Feeling
To express feelings without being caught up in them is a very freeing activity. I'm like a caring observer when that happens. I can't believe that I can write about these feelings so precisely, and still not be brought down by them. Amazing.
Creating
To create a piece of writing is magic. If the truth be told, I see it happening right before my eyes, and yet, the source of it remains a mystery to me. But I love being the instrument as the energies flow through me and on to the paper.
Planning
To plan is to commit with the goal of seeing the project to the end. It takes grit. It takes guts. It takes a silent confidence. But what I'm learning every day is that it takes patience - the biggest aspect of it all. To work on patience is to plan.
Observing
To be present in the world around me, and to watch it unfold, is a power I am learning to accept and harness. It takes peace of mind, it takes focus, it takes all of the qualities that I possess, to be a great student of the world.
Producing
This is where the payoff begins, in the early mornings or stolen moments when I am writing in margins or on my phone, capturing thoughts before they fly away, trying to keep track of the flow of
aha! moments.
Cleaning
I am like my own coworker here, calmly looking, steering sentences that have wandered back to one direction, open to new avenues, striving to honour the intention of the writing and removing all that goes againt the original goal.
Polishing
This is pin points, this is the impact of a comma, a capital or a space. This is diction, the secret weapon of every writer, that perfect word, perfectly placed. This is all the secret moves, in the last few moments, to make the work do nothing but shine.
