MDP and State Licensing Requirements

MDP and State Licensing Requirements

With Martin Luther College graduates receiving Minnesota teaching licenses and with WELSSA recommending teacher licensure for accredited schools, it is reasonable to expect that the majority of WELS teachers will be licensed in the near future. The Ministry Development Plan (MDP) is designed with sufficient flexibility for educators to combine these two professional growth requirements.

Additionally, the MDP is intended to work hand-in- hand with the WELS New Teacher Induction (NTI) process.

Considerations for the New Teacher and Calling Body

If called to another state, NTI supports the new teacher to…

● maintain their MN license and/or

● attain license/credential in the state of the calling body
