Solar for East Grade 9 Team

The story of Solar for East

Inspired by the Solar for Dover programme, the Solar for East project is a student run initiative aimed to reduce the carbon footprint of the East Campus.

In early September 2017 along with the Facilities Department, Grade 9 students sat down to discuss the possibility of launching a solar panel initiative at East. Following the positive conversation, they began to put together a proposal and in November 2017 they presented it to the Board, and it was approved.

This project is just one part of the College's ongoing commitment to ensuring that environmental stewardship becomes a major part of every child's education. Over the next few years we hope to install 1,130 panels across four locations located on Blocks B and C.

We all have a responsibility to protect our environment and now through the Solar for East project, the College community can be involved in creating a more sustainable future for all.

Phase 1: Block C - 180 Panels

Blocks B and C (4 Locations)

  1. C West - 180 Panels
  2. C East - 210 Panels
  3. B West - 360 Panels
  4. B East - 380 Panels

How you can adopt a panel

For a donation of $600 you can adopt a panel and help make the Solar for East programme a reality. You can also adopt part of a panel from $100.

Donations can be made from families, as an individual or as a group - perhaps as a class gift, community group gift, or in honour of a birthday.
