RUNNING WILD
Running Wild is a multi-grade production about a character named Will/Lily who travels to Indonesia and meets an unexpected animal friend who saves their life. There are 7 grade levels with a multiple split level cast of 52 students.
The focus for the show aligns itself with the UWC mission statement, ‘The UWC movement makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.’
To help the cast better embody their animal counterparts, we did a workshop with 'Mascot Puppetry Company', a company known for their puppetry shows. They have first-hand experience with these puppets as they have created some of them.
In the script, 'Running Wild' one is encouraged to “Use music and song throughout, imaginatively and liberally” (Adamson, Samuel. Running Wild. 2015.) . There is no defined answer to what the sound should be. This has allowed the directing team to bring in the Music Department and Faezan Redwan, our gamelan specialist to mentor and compose pieces for these sections.
