Activities

Infant School students can be involved in optional paid Activities from 2–3pm immediately after school. We believe that young children should not be over-scheduled and need time to relax and play at home after a long day at school, so we encourage parents to limit Infant students' participation in Activities. There are, however, a number of activities available such as art, ball skills, chess, dance, chess, coding/robotics, gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, Lego and swimming that are open to Infant School students. These fee-based activities are run by outside providers.

The Activities programme is designed to provide students with opportunities to follow their passions and develop new ones, alongside like-minded peers who share their interests. Through the Activities programme, students have the chance to explore their talents, develop new skills and to be successful beyond the classroom. By trying out new things, they discover what they are good at, and are motivated to succeed. They build leadership and social skills as well as an understanding of group dynamics. Most importantly, they experience both success and failure and learn to persevere.

If Infant students do not take part in the Activities programme, they still have plenty of opportunities to explore interests through the main learning programme and have plenty of exposure to sports, arts, drama, and leadership and performance opportunities. Equally, they have the chance to try out new things, build social skills and develop resilience and perseverance. Once they are older and developmentally more ready, they can begin to participate more in the formal extra-curricular Activities programme.
