PE

The purpose of the PE programme is to encourage the children to be physically active throughout life by fostering enjoyment of physical pursuits, and developing self-confidence and social competencies through the acquisition of techniques in individual and team activities.

Students in Grade 4 have PE twice a week for 50 minutes with a specialist PE teacher. The curriculum is divided into 7 units of work covering all physical domains. Throughout the year, they do different sports in 5- week blocks, giving them exposure to a wide variety of options. The sports include:

  • Indoor: Gymnastics, Short Tennis and Basketball
  • Outdoor: T-ball, Athletics and Fitness, Touch and Netball
  • Aquatics: Swimming techniques, and diving

Students are assessed after every unit on:

  • Effort
  • Social and Cooperative skills- participation, enthusiasm and listening
  • Movement and Physical activity- fitness
  • Organisations- correct kit and punctuality
