Junior School Students (Grades 2–5):
Lessons may be scheduled during the school day, avoiding morning break and single-subject classes (e.g. Music, PE, Languages, Art). Lesson times are coordinated with the ITP teacher, parents, and the class teacher. Students should not miss more than 60 minutes of regular classes each week.
Middle and High School Students (Grades 6–12):
Lessons are prioritised during break times, lunchtimes, or after school.
Lesson Duration:
Lessons longer than 30 minutes are typically reserved for advanced students or in exceptional cases.
Students are expected to practise at least five days per week. All students must maintain a practice diary, which will be reviewed by their Instrumental Teacher each lesson.
Diary Guidelines:
Grades 2–5: A paper diary provided by the teacher.
Grades 6–12: Students may use their own notebook or a digital Google Doc practice diary (shared by the teacher).
Parents are encouraged to check the practice diary regularly to stay informed about their child’s progress.
To help us best support students, please notify the ITP Teacher at least 24 hours in advance if your child will be absent from their ITP lessons, unless it’s due to a sudden illness. In such cases, please inform both the ITP Teacher and the appropriate ITP Administrator (Dover: ITP@uwcsea.edu.sg) by 7am on the day of the absence.
While the ITP Team does its best to stay informed about major events, parents are asked to notify teachers in advance of any planned absences. This helps ensure that make-up lessons or credits can be arranged where appropriate.
Below is a summary of our policy regarding absences and make-up lessons:
Enrolment in lessons is for the duration of a Season. To terminate lessons at the end of a season, we kindly ask that you notify both the Instrumental Teacher and the relevant ITP administrator (Dover: ITP@uwcsea.edu.sg) before the start of the next season.
Grade 10 IGCSE and Grade 12 students should discuss with their ITP teacher about continuing lessons during exam periods.
Requests for a change of teacher should be submitted before the end of the current season. We will consider these requests depending on teacher availability.
Please note that requests received during a season will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and may result in the forfeiture of any paid lesson fees. We ask parents and students to think carefully before requesting a teacher change, as mid-season changes can disrupt learning and affect billing.
The College does not offer trial lessons.
Privately owned instruments should be covered on the owner's insurance.
UWCSEA is not liable for any damage, loss or theft occurring on campus.
