PARENTS FOR SSEP
Robotics Hackathon
UWCSEA East hosted SAIS in a friendly robotics hackathon session on Saturday the 12th of November. Students from both Primary and Middle School attended the competition and fun was had by all, we were very happy to see UWCSEA East students representing Grade 3 all the way up to Grade 8.
The challenge was to design and build a robot using Lego Spike, EV3 or NXT that could travel around a play area collecting resources. The robots would then need to bring these collected resources home and then move to deliver them to another area in the play zone. This required students to not just code one instruction, but a series of instructions and apply the code to modular designs within their inventions.
The students only had 3 hours to design, build and test the robot, they had no idea what the challenge would even be before the event started. All students did exceptionally well and enjoyed themselves. We would like to thank Stamford American International School for coming all the way to our campus and a special thanks to the parents that supported us by attending the event for the grand finale.
See our photos below for a better sense of how the students connected on the day.
(There will be other opportunities so keep your eye out for our next Robotics Hackathon)
