The FUSE
cup 2023
Our Mario Kart teams competed in the FUSE Cup last Saturday at Stamford American International School. The event ran from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm and our students really did well in representing our UWC values. They tried hard, they supported each other and the other teams and they made new connections. It was wonderful to see our students from grade 4 up to grade 9 really come together for this tournament.
Gaming has the potential to unite people from all walks of life and serve as a means of fostering positive social interactions. Through inclusive practices that embrace diversity, players develop valuable skills in conduct and communication, particularly during gameplay. As part of the FUSE Cup guidelines, it was mandatory for all participants to exchange "Good Luck" greetings before the start of a competitive game and express appreciation for their opponents' efforts with a "Good Game" gesture at the end of the game.
Playing games like Mario Kart with other people, physically in one room, isn't a silent affair, there is conversation, storytelling and an experience shared. The students who attended this event, whether they won or not, will always remember their time positively.
