Stand-in-Ovation
PARENTS FOR SSEP
Stand-in-Ovation
The Stand-in-Ovation Challenge was an inclusive design-and-make music challenge open to all students from Grade 4 to Grade 12 from both UWCSEA East and Dover campuses. The challenge, introduced in April, was to task participants with designing and fabricating a playable musical instrument. Between April and June, students took the initiative to explore the world of musical instruments, conduct research on different types and how they are played.
Stand-in-Ovation encouraged students to delve into the art of music-making, fostering creativity, craftsmanship, and musical exploration. By designing and constructing their own playable instruments, students had the opportunity to showcase their ingenuity and passion for music. The challenge was sponsored by The James Dyson Foundation who provided the workshops and engineers, Meka Innovation who provided the grand prize, the 3d Printer and Shapr3d who provided the software. Inspiration came from Schlub Brassworks and students made use of Autodesk's Fusion 360 and TinkerCAD where and when needed.
Below you will find highlights from the workshop sessions and the final presentation.
