What is our "Why"?

The Edgar Boys Basketball Program will strive to assist all student-athletes in their development of mind, body, and spirit. As a program, we will stress to each player that they represent themselves, their family, their school, and their community with class, dignity, and humility. It is our belief that being a good student and respected citizen of the Edgar community will equate to high achievement on the basketball court. Our student-athletes will grow to appreciate the concepts of hard-work, toughness, and personal accountability, as well as the feelings that competition can evoke such as elation and agony. All of these experiences combined will hopefully provide our players with the skills necessary to succeed in all avenues of life after high school. Lastly, it is our deepest ambition that playing basketball for the EDGAR WILDCATS will be an experience that is remembered with great pride and fondness.

In order to promote and enhance these ideals, the Edgar Boys Basketball Program will stress five “core values”…

1) Selflessness

**Make your teammates better; True joy rests in helping others find success**

2) Discipline

**How we do anything is how we do everything; No detail is minor**

3) Passion

**Love the game, love the program, love your teammates; Leave it better than you found it**

4) Togetherness

**One team, one vision, one heartbeat; We are strongest when united**

5) Humility

**Know who we are; Value our strengths and acknowledge our weaknesses**

General Behavior Expectations:

1) Respect the game, respect the jersey, respect the officials, respect your opponent, respect your coaches, respect your teammates, respect your managers

2) Give your best effort every time you step on the court

3) Be accountable for your actions

4) Be coachable

5) Be on time

“Talent is God given, be humble. Fame is man given, be grateful. Conceit is self given, be careful.”
