Dear Families,
Happy New Year!
I spoke with the class this week about the importance of arriving to school on time. I understand that icy roads and dark mornings can make this challenging; however, this has been an ongoing concern since the beginning of the year. We often begin our morning meeting with 8–10 students absent. Arriving on time helps set a positive tone for the day. Our morning meeting is an important time for students to connect with one another, go over the schedule for the day, and discuss important topics. I truly appreciate your efforts to ensure your child arrives at school a few minutes before 7:45. Our morning meeting begins promptly at 7:45, and students transition to Walk to Skill at 7:55. Thank you for your continued support!

Math:
focus this week: multi-digit multiplication using estimation and partial products
Multi-digit multiplication can be challenging for many students who have not yet mastered their basic multiplication facts. As a result, students may make errors and become frustrated. Each day, students spend 10 minutes working on an online Fact Fluency program through our Amplify math curriculum. While this practice is helpful, it may not be sufficient for some students. Additional practice at home can make a big difference. Please support your child by helping them find time to practice basic multiplication and division facts at home. Strengthening these skills will make our unit on multi-digit multiplication and division easier, more successful, and more enjoyable for your child.
