This site is a work in progress. If there is anything you want to know more about now, please reach out! Otherwise, I am currently working on this site. Thanks for visiting!
Volunteers: I have to start off with a huge thank you to all of our library volunteers this year! It's a joy to have all of these amazing women help out in our library. We couldn't offer this much without them. They support so many library programs, school-wide events, and they quickly keep the shelves tidy and restocked. We are very lucky to have you: Blake Green, Brianna Miller, Bridget Blethen, Courtney Greenberg, Deb Monnig, Erika Friday, Jennifer Caswell, Jessica Beare, Jordan Bielat, Jordan Maidl, Julie Yasbek, Krista Malfatto, Lauren Hunt, Lisa Benroeck, Maddie Phillips, Melissa Griffin, and Rashel Matthys. And a special shoutout to 6th grader Blakely Carroll for coming in before school to help out!
Readers at Home: Please send me a photo of your reader at home in their happy reading place! We love to see our readers in action with their pets, siblings, and more. Just email me one pic directly. I show these photos in a repeating slideshow on our library TV.
Miller Parent Book Club: Join the conversation on Thursday, November 6 at Pacific Pizza and Brew to discuss a few of the books we are reading/read over the summer; All the Colors of the Dark, James. If you haven't read these yet, please join us anyway. Our conversations go in many directions based on ideas in the books. Meet at 5:30-7:00. Order food and drink from 5:30-6:00, and start the book talks from 6:00-7:00. And of course we have to pick the next read. RSVP here or just email me! (--insert sign up genius--)
Book Fair: Nov 7-14 with Family Night at Roundabout Books on 7/13.
Link: OBOB Slides and Information Please click the link for the slides I showed our 3rd-5th graders regarding this year's OBOB season! There are procedures, book talks, dates, resources, etc. OBOB is too good to be true! Please encourage your reader to join!
Chess Tournament #1: Thank you to all of our incredible chess players for participating in our very first Chess Tournament! It was super casual and fun with little sweet treats to make it that much more exciting! We had an outstanding 75 first through fifth grade students join for four days of good old gaming. And even one kinder as a last minute add! Thank you to the parent volunteers that came in to make this a fantastic first go! (Katherine LeBrun, Lisa Benroeck, Alison Rogstad, Aaron Rogstad, Brennan Bentley, and Lida Naydek).

Chess Tournament #2: Week of May 5th.
Book Swap: May 26-29. The Miller Book Swap is a great jump start to summer reading. Students can bring up to 5 books they are ready to part with and take up to 5 books home. Each book brought in turns into a "book buck" and can be spent at the swap. Spending those book bucks is a pretty cool opportunity.
Fancy Week: I put out many cooperative activities and technology opportunities the last week of every month. Reading and checking out books happens first, then we get fancy! It's a time that all students look forward to.
Student Helpers: 4th and 5th graders can apply to help in the library one recess per week. I am always accepting applications! Here is a link to a Library Helper Application.
Makerspace/Lunch Recess: Teachers give out passes to 2nd-5th grade students that want to spend their lunch recess in the library! Students can play legos, chess, checkers, build, do a puzzle, draw/color, or engage in creative craft activities in the Makerspace. Monday 2nd grade, Tuesday 3rd grade, Thursday 5th grade, Friday 4th grade (Thank you Julie Yasbek, Lisa Benroeck, and Brianna Miller for helping me offer this for our kiddos!)
Guest Librarian: Students are chosen randomly during each library class throughout the week. Depending on the age, guest librarians scan books, run the computer, pick up and deliver books, group and shelve books, ring the bell, and some even offer to make me coffee in my little keurig! Guest librarian is a highlight of library time for sure.
