You can write about almost any topic as long you research, investigate, and then report factual information.
Research should include finding at least THREE sources (websites w/ printed text and/or videos ~ make sure you are visiting student friendly websites) on your topic and might also include facts you have found on your own or facts you have found by conducting interviews with others (from a safe social distance).
Your writing should have: (1) an introduction that introduces your topic and hooks your readers, (2) three body paragraphs - each one focusing on a subtopic that provide details so readers can really understand the issue/event, and (3) a conclusion that reminds readers of your main point and ties your ideas together.
80-90% of your writing needs to be your own thoughts/words (not plagiarized). However, you should quote others if/when their words will help you inform your audience about your chosen topic.
Your writing should have at least five paragraphs.
Your writing should be 300-500 words.
Goldilocks Rule of Focus: The more you can focus in on one topic, the better! However, you want to make sure your topic isn't too narrow (so narrow that you can't write at least five paragraphs about it). Too broad = how all sports at all levels have been affected; Too narrow: the basketball court was closed at your local park; Just right = What NBA players have been doing to support their communities during coronavirus.
