Favorite Cheer Memory: Staying in Des Moines during state wrestling, eating at Cheesecake Factory, and shopping at the mall! And placing 3rd at ICCA State Competition Cheer my junior year in the 4A Cheer/Dance category!
Fun Fact: Harry Styles is my favorite musician and I got to see him perform during Love on Tour!
I'm so excited to be coaching winter cheer this year with my best friend! In high school, I cheered for four years under Cherie Reid on Football, Competition, and Wrestling squads. Cheerleading is such a fun and rewarding way to be involved in school and the community. I am currently a first year teacher at BHS in the social studies department. When I'm not at school or cheer practice, I love cooking, going for walks, spending time with friends and family, and playing the guitar.

Fun fact: My Guilty Pleasure show is The Office. Name a season and I’ll give you a rundown!
I’m so excited for winter cheer! This fall I was the assistant cheer coach for football cheer. During my high school years I cheered under Cherie Reid for Football, Competition, and Basketball, and I'm so thrilled to be continuing the tradition! I am currently a first year Kindergarten teacher with the BCSDS at North Hill. I go from my little Kinder-Hounds to the spirit team themselves!

Years Coaching at BHS: 35
Prestigious Awards: 2011 Iowa High School Cheerleading Coach of the Year
Coaching Cheerleading is truly my dream job! And coaching at Burlington High School is the BEST!
I have had the opportunity to coach approximately 1,700 Cheerleaders over the past 35 years! Through Cheerleading, I hope my Cheerleaders learn responsibility, teamwork, dedication, and leadership. I hope to instill in them the importance of hard work, respect for others, and being a good role model. It is my goal that they learn how it feels to be an important part of a team, to work well with others, and to take pride in their school and community. I hope that Cheerleading at BHS will always be one of their very best high school memories.
The job of a high school cheerleader is to support their team, lead the crowd, raise school spirit and demonstrate good sportsmanship. They are Ambassadors for their school. Their job, as a Cheerleader, is NOT limited to the football field, basketball court, or wrestling mat. In addition to the importance of maintaining good grades, they are involved in many community activities. Some of those activities include: working at Steamboat Days Kids Day, helping with the Alzheimer's Memory Walk, volunteering at The Relay for Life, and helping with the Special Olympics, They learn that helping others and giving back to their community isa good thing!
Competition Cheerleading has grown over the years. BHS competes in the State Cheerleading Competition in November. I am proud to say that each year the Cheerleaders work very hard and ALWAYs represent Burlington High School in a positive manner! We always place high in our division, and won the State Championship in 1993 and 2016!
Our quote this year: "Dreams don't work unless YOU do!"
Cheering for the Grayhounds is an amazing honor! Coaching those who cheer for the Grayhounds is an amazing experience!
