The purpose of this prompt is to use generative AI to assist in navigating social situations. The responses that generative AI provides may be helpful in providing you some ideas and perspectives that can help you prepare.
Note: The following prompts were tested in Microsoft Copilot for Web.
I will give you a scenario, please critically evaluate the situation and provide feedback/possible solutions. I am in a group of 4 for a class project. One of the members is not pulling their weight and it is forcing the rest of us to do more work. The professor said we must work it out amongst ourselves.
Act as though you are a close friend of mine and help me understand the situation. I missed your birthday party because I was so busy with work, and it seems like you may be upset with me. I'm not exactly sure why or what I can do to make you feel better.
Further Prompt:
I still don't quite understand, please try to explain in more detail.
These prompts instruct the AI to either act as a person or evaluate a situation as an outside observer. Each has its use cases, as one may be emotionally reliant, while the other may be more logical and objective. For instance, when dealing with a friend whose feelings are hurt, it may be more valuable to consider the full scope of their feelings.
As usual, it is important to remember that generative AI is still limited by its training data, and does not actually understand emotion, right and wrong, and can only generate responses based on the limited information provided. While AI can be a useful tool, it is not an objective source of truth or understanding.
