Preparing questions

Purpose

The purpose of this prompt is to help brainstorm questions that will help you understand a syllabus topic. This is an engaging way to interact with your course material to enhance your comprehension and prepare for lectures and class discussion ahead of time, as well as identify any concepts which may need clarification.

Note: The following prompts were tested with Microsoft Copilot for Web, but they are suitable for most language based generative AI tools. 

You are studying first year Bachelors of Commerce at university and are about to attend a lecture on Principles of Marketing. Brainstorm some questions on Principles of Marketing that you anticipate to be hard to understand and can ask for clarification in class. Provide the questions in a table. List the questions in order of priority and be concise.

Alternatives:

You are a student studying <YEAR> <DEGREE> at The University of Sydney. Come up with different questions on <TOPIC>. Provide the questions in a list based on priority of importance. Write in short dot points, be concise.

Explanation

This prompt gives the AI a role (e.g. first year student), the task (brainstorm questions), and instructions (how it should structured and how the completion should be written). 

This prompt asks for possible questions you can take with you to class and also ask during the lecture or tutorial regarding the topic. This is useful for pre-lecture preparation and other scenarios where potential areas of confusion is anticipated. It will provide a a list of questions that you can ask or discuss with others regarding common points of difficulty. If further explanation is required follow-up prompts can be used to seek more information.
