The Write a Book Project at Galway Education Support Centre provides opportunities for children to experiment with writing and to progress development in writing as they:
-experiment with and investigate mark-making
-enjoy drawing and letter-like forms and sharing meaning through naming some features in their texts
-create early written texts and explain the main messages in these texts
-write and share meaning through reading and discussing texts
-write for self-selected and different purposes with help from basic genre structures
-write in a wider range of genres, explore his/her own style, adding detail to ideas and discuss these with others
-use personal style of writing in a range of genres, elaborate on details, develop characters further and use language creatively and imaginatively and share writing with others
-publish written texts
-read texts published by peers in child's own class / school and in local classes / schools
