FREE local news service
for the blind or visually impaired
We are a team of volunteers that produce a weekly audio digest of selected articles from the Stranraer and Wigtownshire Free Press and Galloway Gazette, delivered to your home free of charge.
People registered blind or partially sighted qualify for the service and receive a weekly audio recording of a curated selection of news from the local papers, including details of events being advertised.
Each week, we send you a USB memory stick filled with local news, which you can play on a speaker supplied to you at no cost. You simply listen and return the USB in the easy-fastening reusable plastic wallet we provide.
Alternatively, you can listen online through your smart speaker or by accessing the Talking News Federation's web player on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
The provided speaker is easy to use, with a large on/off/volume control dial and buttons to pause, skip-back or skip-forward.
You control which items you want to listen to or hear again.
