Katie is from Utica, New York, and completed her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders at the State University of New York at Cortland. She chose to pursue audiology because of her love for science and strong interest in Deaf culture. Katie is interested in working with adult and geriatric patients. A few of her audiology interests include hearing conservation, hearing aids, cochlear implants, and providing services to the Deaf community.
Hilmarie is a second year AuD doctoral candidate in Dr Carter's ELF Lab. Hilmarie received her BS in Psychology from George Mason University in 2004. After more than 15 years supporting the Office of the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation as a defense contractor, Hilmarie decided to pursue graduate studies in communications and science disorders. Hilmarie completed the Hearing and Speech in the Evening program at the University of Maryland College Park where she discovered her love for audiology. From there, Hilmarie landed at Gallaudet University with special interests in diagnostic audiology, audiology across the lifespan, and electrophysiology. Hilmarie hopes to work with the pediatric, geriatric, and military populations. Hilmarie lives in Fairfax, VA with her husband, two children, and rescue doodle.
