A Lunch and Learn is a short, relaxed session held during lunchtime where students can enjoy their meal while learning about different careers, colleges, or opportunities. It’s designed to help you explore your future without the pressure of a full class or long presentation.
Here’s what you can expect:
1. It’s casual and easy to attend.
You grab your lunch, come to the meeting space, and listen to a guest speaker—no homework, no tests, no sign-ups needed (unless your school requires it).
2. You hear directly from professionals.
Speakers might be from local businesses, unions, colleges, the military, healthcare, law enforcement, manufacturing, and more. They share what their job is actually like.
3. You get real-world info.
Lunch and Learns help you understand career paths, training options, salary expectations, job duties, and what steps you can take after high school.
4. You can ask questions.
It’s a chance to talk to people already working in the field and get honest answers about what the job is really like.
5. It’s quick.
Most sessions last about 20–30 minutes, so it fits right into your lunch period.
6. It can help you plan your future.
Whether you’re heading to college, the military, the trades, or straight into the workforce, Lunch and Learns help you explore possibilities and find options you may not have considered.
Avita - The Avita Hospital Lunch & Learn had 13 students in attendance. Students learned about a variety of careers in healthcare, including nursing, medical support, and administrative roles. The session provided insight into the skills and training needed for hospital work and allowed students to ask questions and engage directly with healthcare professionals.
Park National Bank of Galion- The Park National Bank Lunch & Learn had 11 students in attendance. Students learned about careers in banking and finance, including customer service, accounting, and management roles. The session gave students a closer look at the skills and training needed to work in the financial industry and provided an opportunity to ask questions and interact with banking professionals.
Crawford County Sheriff's Department- The Sheriff’s Department Lunch & Learn was a great success, with 22 students in attendance. Students gained valuable insight into careers in law enforcement, learned about the responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Department, and had the opportunity to ask questions and engage with professionals in the field. The strong turnout and student participation showed a high level of interest in public service and career opportunities within the department.
Labors Union 1216- The Laborers Union had 16 students in attendance. Students learned about careers in the laborers trade, including apprenticeship opportunities, hands-on training, and the benefits of union membership. The discussion highlighted pathways that allow students to earn while they learn and explore long-term, stable careers in construction and public works.
Galion Fire EMS- The Galion Fire & EMS Lunch & Learn had 19 students in attendance. Students learned about careers in firefighting and emergency medical services, including the training, skills, and responsibilities required for these important roles. The session gave students an inside look at how first responders serve the community and allowed them to ask questions and engage directly with professionals in the field.
Galion LLC- The Galion LLC Lunch & Learn had 8 students in attendance. Students learned about careers within the company, including roles in business operations, management, and local services. The session offered insight into the skills and training needed for these positions and gave students the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with professionals from the company.
Ed's Barbershop- The Ed’s Barber Shop Lunch & Learn with 16 students participating. Students learned about careers in barbering, the skills and training required, and what it takes to run a successful local business. The session sparked great questions and interest, highlighting the value of skilled trades and entrepreneurship within the community.
Electrician's Union 688- The Electrician Union Lunch & Learn had 19 students in attendance. Students learned about careers in the electrical trade, including apprenticeship opportunities, hands-on training, and the benefits of union membership. The session provided insight into the skills, safety practices, and certifications required, and gave students the chance to ask questions and interact directly with professionals in the field.
