Welcome to art at Lombard Junior High! I will be your teacher this year. My name is Laura Bosomworth. You can call me Mrs. B. or Mrs. Bosomworth. Over the next school year, you will be spending a portion of your day with me. With that being the case, I think you should know a few things about me.
To begin, I truly enjoy art and I love learning new ways to make art. I graduated from Illinois State University many years ago with my Elementary Education degree which had an emphasis in art. I had hoped to teach art upon graduation, but I got the opportunity to teach 5th grade instead. I took the job and taught 5th grade for the next 24 years here in District 205. I incorporated art in my classroom in a variety of ways. Four years ago, I was given the opportunity to teach art...my dream job...and I accepted the position. This year will be my fifth year teaching art and I love it! I do not claim to know everything about art, but like I stated earlier, I love learning new ways to make art and learning about art/artists in general. I hope you will, too.
In addition to loving art, you should know that I love other things as well. I love chocolate! My favorite...Nestle chocolate chips straight from the bag. I also enjoy flowers, particularly daisies. Even though I know it’s not good for me, I admit that I believe there’s nothing better than an ice cold Coke on a hot summer day. As for activities, I love to cook, draw, paint, play games, and spend time with family and friends.
Finally, as far as school goes, I'm confident that we can have a really great year if we work together, stay positive, be flexible, and communicate if problems arise. This will be an exciting and successful year. I hope you’re looking forward to it as much as I am.
