9/11
Deacon Edwards - GMS Golf
Deacon is an 8th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Golf Team. The MS Golf Team had its first match of the season this past week and Deacon led the team to a 2nd place finish. The team finished with a total score of 215, and Deacon placed 1st with a score of 27.
Alaina Johnson - GMS Volleyball
Alaina is an 7th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Volleyball Team. The MS Volleyball Team has been on a hot streak, with a 5-1 start to the season. Alaina came up big this past week in keeping that alive Tuesday against Scott Memorial. Down by 9 points, Alaina came up with some clutch serves and crucial plays to propel them back to victory.
Claire Warf, Emmy Hawks, Lexi Underwood - GHS JV Volleyball
A special shoutout for our three 8th graders that are playing JV Volleyball for the high school: The three 8th graders have a huge impact on the JV team every game. They have helped lead the team to an undefeated start, and despite being the youngest players, they have all stepped up in the big moments. Lexi, as the libero, is always getting to every ball and dropping passes right on Emmy. Emmy, is running the offense from the setter position. She is everywhere and putting up great balls for her teammates. Claire is not only playing well in the back row, but she is also putting lots of balls away in the front row, as well. All three have come up with huge serves down stretches of tight games, and are always giving it their all.

Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - Please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition. Please let us know if your student-athlete has participated and/or excelled in any athletics outside of school that we can recognize.
