Connor Boyles - GMS/JV Football
Connor is an 8th grader at GMS and currently a member of both the GMS Football Team and the JV Football Team. The JV Football team took on John Battle this past Wednesday, and Connor was the only 8th grader that started on both sides of the ball. At the QB position, he kept drives alive by managing the game and completing several long balls down field. On the other side of the ball, he adjusted well to cover receivers out of multiple formations. At the end of the game, Connor and his teammates were victorious and picked up a big win for the JV Football program!
Osa Long - GMS Swim
Osa Long is a 7th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Swim Team. This week, the team took a trip to Bristol for their second meet of the season. The girls team came home with a 1st place finish, and large part of that was due to the efforts of Osa. She placed 1st in the 25 Free and the 200 Free and was a part of two 1st place girls relay teams including the 100 Medley Relay with K. Whitman, S. Chavez, and K Barnes and the 200 Medley Relay with K. Barnes, A. Roberts, and E. Bedwell.

Game Schedules
Making Waves
MS Football crossed a game off the schedule so that everyone could get ready for the JV game Wednesday. Most of the 8th graders played a key role in the JV win over John Battle on Wednesday!
MS Volleyball wrapped up their season on Tuesday with a win over Grayson! They had a super strong year, closing it out with a 13-3 record.
MS XC hosted the Middle School MED Championship and had a great turn out! The girls placed 1st, with Katherine leading the pack with a 7th place finish. The boys placed 4th, with Timmy leading the way with a 3rd place finish!
MS Cheer will wrap up the football season Monday with the home game vs Giles. They will have chic-fil-a at the game! They will then move straight into basketball season!
MS Swim had their second meet of the season this week, and to say they were successful is an understatement. We had many 1st place individual and relay finishes, as well as a 1st place girls team finish. We also had many more event top ten finishes in both boys and girls, with the boys picking up a 2nd place overall team finish.
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - Please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition. Please let us know if your student-athlete has participated and/or excelled in any athletics outside of school that we can recognize.
