Eleuterio Mata - GMS Soccer
Eleuterio is an 8th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Soccer Team. The MS Soccer Team put together a big win this week and Eleuterio played a big part in that. He recorded his first-ever HAT TRICK while taking on a new challenge at CAM. His energy, effort, and drive were impossible to miss, as he controlled the pace of play, made smart runs, and stayed relentless from start to finish. A huge performance shows how much he is growing as a player.
Brody Long - GMS Baseball
Brody is an 8th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Baseball Team. The MS Baseball Team had some big wins this week and Brody played a big part in that. He went seven for twelve on the week with zero strikeouts and accounted for five runs. By the way, Brody has been accomplishing all of this and has been playing for the majority of the season with his wrong hand. An injury to his right arm has left him playing left-handed.
Braleigh Taylor - GMS Softball
Braleigh is a 6th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Softball Team. The MS Softball Team put together a big win this week and Braleigh played a big part in that. Her bat has been on fire, staying consistent in the batter's box and coming up with several multiple base hits. She has paired that with her defense, making keys plays at both first base and third.
Lillian Kidd - GMS Track and Field
Lillian is a 7th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Track and Field Team. The MS Track and Field Team had two meets this year and Lillian came up with two big performances, with four top five finishes and five top ten finishes. She has become one of the most consistent at putting points on the board at all of our meets. As mainly a thrower, she is always willing to help the team out by filling in and running relays if we need her. A hard worker, coachable, and with a great attitude, Lillian always tries to run down to the track after throwing practice to get some running in.

Game Schedules
Making Waves
MS Baseball picked up two big wins this week at Auburn and at Bland. Boyles is coming into his own on the mound and solid hitting by Long has had the Tide competing in every game as of late.
MS Softball picked up a big 16-2 win over Bland this week. Taylor's bat has been on fire, sparking the Tide's offense. Combine that with their solid consistent defense and pitching, they are getting hot at the right time.
MS Soccer had a busy week, put came out with a couple big wins. They are working together great, and in new position, Mata put together a hat trick to close out the week and to close out the 7-0 win vs Bland.
MS Track has had a lot of practice with not a ton of opportunities to show it off. This week, however, they had not one, but two meets to showcase their skills. Tucker and Hawks have been taking the lead for the girls on the track, and Bond and Pinckney are at the top for the boys. Edwards and Burnette continue to lead the boys in the field events and Kidd and Humfeld pave the way for the girls.
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - Please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition. Please let us know if your student-athlete has participated and/or excelled in any athletics outside of school that we can recognize.
