4/17
Connor Boyles - GMS Baseball
Connor is an 8th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Baseball Team. The MS Baseball Team put together a big 9-2 win over Scott Memorial this week and Connor played a big part in that. He pitched a complete game(5 innings), racked up 12 strikeouts in the process, and assisted on two more outs, showing off the defensive fielding prowess as well.
Alaina Johnson - GMS Softball
Alaina is a 6th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Softball Team. She has really stepped up this year and has done it rapidly, just being a 6th grader. Alaina has been one of the most consistent in the batter's box, especially here recently. She also has been coming up with some clutch catches, commanding the outfield. This week, she fired one all the home to tag the runner out just in time.
Junior Calihua - GMS Soccer
Junior is a 7th grader at GMS and currently a member of the GMS Soccer Team. The MS Soccer Team put together two big wins this week and Junior played a big part in that. He always plays hard and does exactly what is asked of him. It paid off, and this week he stepped up and found the back of the net for his first time this season.

Game Schedules
Making Waves
MS Baseball two games this week, and the first one at Scott Memorial resulted in a 9-2 WIN! Boyles stayed on the mound for the entire game and totaled 12 Ks. The MS Baseball Team has possibly the most challenging part of their schedule next week, with three away games in the same week. Take a road trip with them before they park it home for the remainder of the season.
MS Softball also had two games this week in which they put up a strong fight in both. Johnson contributed with both some key hits and key plays defensively. Softball mirrors baseball, with the most difficult part of their coming next week with three games in a week, all away. Consider taking a trip and taking support for them before you get to come out to a lot more right at home.
MS Soccer had another great week and a busy one at that, with three games total. They stacked up two wins at the beginning of the week with a 5-1 WIN at Carroll and then a 6-2 WIN at home vs Carroll. They came up short on the road at Pulaski, but are ready to get back on track on Tuesday.
MS Track got the chance to show everyone what they have been practicing for and tooke their talents to Pulaski to face off against several powerhouse schools. The team put together 24 top ten finishes, and Edwards placed 1st in two events. Kidd, Humfeld, Hash, McKinney, Hawks, and Tucker all took home a 3rd place finish. Tucker and Hawks doubled up and alos place 4th and 5th respectively, and Pinckney contributed with a 5th place finish as well.
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - Please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition. Please let us know if your student-athlete has participated and/or excelled in any athletics outside of school that we can recognize.
