Making Waves
MS Wrestling opened up their season this past Saturday at Southeastern Stokes Middle School with the Turkey Takedown Tournament. They won both matches and got in a lot of valuable experience for their wrestlers. This pas Thursday, they also hosted a quad with Grayson, Patrick, and Scott. The Maroon Tide wrestlers picked up three more wins against them with so many more individual wins as well.
MS Boys Basketball had three games this week. Monday vs Giles, the boys were in it at the half, but Giles came out on a run in the 3rd that we couldn't recover from. Wednesday against Carroll, the boys were in a fight the whole game. The 3rd quarter got them again, but this time they clawed back in the 4th. It came down to the end, but the boys came up short. They traveled to Scott to close out the week, and they do battle with Grayson to start next week.
MS Girls Basketball also had three games this week. They opened with Giles on Monday and came out with a big lead they would only continue to grow throughout the game. Everyone got involved on the both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Wednesday, they had Carroll and it wasn't quite as physical as last time. The girls put together another impressive win, before having to travel to Scott for the last game of the week. They will start next week on the road at Grayson.
MS Cheer supported the basketball teams in a cornucopia of ways this week. First, they hosted Giles for the Thanksgiving night! Then, against Carroll, they brought the energy again to create an unbelievable atmosphere for a middle school basketball game. They went on the road to Scott, keeping everyone pumped up for the game to close out the week.
MS Swim had the week off from competition, but are still getting in the pool and practicing hard. They are gearing up for the championship meet in Bristol on Tuesday, November 18th!
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - Please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition. Please let us know if your student-athlete has participated and/or excelled in any athletics outside of school that we can recognize.
