Athletes of the Week
4/4
Stetson Leonard - GMS Baseball
Stetson is an 8th grader that is currently on the GMS Baseball Team. This past week he got on base three times and accumulated a RBI and a run scored. The more impressive feat for Stetson this week was his defense. He started Wednesday night at the catcher position for the first time ever, and then he did it again the next day. He had some impressive thrown downs and key blocks that prevented several extra bases for the other team. Like Stetson, many of the athletes on the MS Baseball Team are moving around trying to find where they can best succeed and contribute to the team. They are improving and getting better every day.
Claire Warf - GMS Softball
Claire is a 6th grader that is currently on the GMS Softball Team. This week she played a big part in helping them reach the 5-0 mark on the season. Over both games this week, Claire batted .800 with 4 hits and 7 RBI's. She also stole 3 bases and didn't commit a single error. Claire is making huge contributions as a 6th grader. The whole team is on fire, and they have to be to be 5-0. There have been multiple home runs, all by different players. Defense has also been locked in behind some of the best pitching anywhere around.

Spring Sports Schedules
There has already been multiple reschedules. Please follow the online calendar on the school website for latest changes.
Making Waves
MS Softball is off to a hot start, opening the season 5-0. Defensively, Ali Wilson and Laynie Lundy are striking everyone out left and right, with a great field behind them. Offensively, we've already had a couple of homeruns by Mylee Joines, Mady Goad, Madison Sluss, and Kaiden Cornelison.
MS Baseball is getting better every day. They have had many highs already this season and looking forward to putting all of those together consistently this coming week.
MS Track traveled to Pulaski last week, and many athletes placed in the top 5. They are back in action Monday at Patrick Henry Glade Spring.
MS Soccer has put together back to back wins before weather had other ideas for them this week. They look to jump back into action with some key matches.
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - Please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition. Please let us know if your student-athlete has participated and/or excelled in any athletics outside of school that we can recognize.
