The Current
Athletes of the Week
3/28
Lucas Pineda - GMS Soccer
Lucas is a 6th grader that is currently on the GMS Soccer Team. This past week he had two goals in the 4-1 win over Fort Chiswell and one goal in the 2-1 win over Carroll. He and his teammates have been in sync this week with Eleuterio scoring two goals this week and Geralmy adding one as well. Vlad has held opponents to one goal in each game with some impressive saves. Overall, the team is on a good streak right now, and Lucas is in control of the field.
Myah Parks - GMS Track and Field
Myah is an 8th grader on the GMS Track and Field Team. They traveled to Pulaski this week to face several large schools, including Pulaski, Christiansburg, and Carroll. Even with all of those athletes, Myah finished 2nd in 100m hurdles and 5th in the long jump. There were several other strong showings from our boys and girls. Their one home meet is this Tuesday if you want to come check them out!

Making Waves
MS Softball is off to a hot start, opening the season 3-0. Defensively, Ali Wilson is leading in strikeouts with a great field behind her. Offensively, we've already had a couple of homeruns by Mylee Joines and Mady Goad.
MS Baseball is getting better every day. They have had many highs already this season and looking forward to putting all of those together consistently this coming week.
MS Track traveled to Pulaski this past week, and many athletes placed in the top 5. Join them for their one gome track meet this coming week on Tuesday.
MS Soccer has put together back to back wins and looks to put that streak on the line again Monday at Pulaski. Vlad has come up with a ton of saves, and Lucas, Eleuierio, and Geralmy all got on the stat sheet with goals.
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - Please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition. Please let us know if your student-athlete has participated and/or excelled in any athletics outside of school that we can recognize.
