MS Girls Basketball Team
A big congratulations to the GMS Girls Basketball Team, who was able to pull off the incredible accomplishment of going undefeated, at 19-0 on the season. This year's team consisted of 8th graders - Mady Goad, Rylee Hawks, Myah Parks, Alaya "Laya" Poindexter, and Jessenia Poindexter, 7th graders - Haley Bond, Brenda Gonzalez, Taylan King, Laynie Lundy, and Quintasia "Quin-buckets" Watson, and 6th graders - Emmersyn "Emmy" Hawks, Viviana "Vivi" Hernandez, Bella Parks, Alexis "Lexi" Underwood, Jasmine Urbina, and Claire Warf. Naomi Anders and Alaina Johnson, who are in 5th grade, serve as team managers, and the team is coached by Mallory Hawks, Brad Hawks, and Ashlyn Strickland. There is much more to come from these girls, as many of them were also part of a one-loss volleyball team this year or excelled at other individual sports in the fall. Consistency is key, as most of the 7th and 8th graders were also part of the MS Girls Basketball team just one year ago, who only lost to one opponent. That just goes to show how hard it is to not get even one loss, and these girls did just that THIS year. Their closest game this year was a 19 point win (46-27) over Grayson at home!

Making Waves
MS Basketball had two games this week to finish up their seasons. The boys finished 5-11, but have been much improved, even shorthanded on players to finish the year. We are excited to see them next year, as they continue to build on that growth they accomplished this year. The girls culminated two more wins, which brought their record to 19-0 and resulted in an undefeated season! We can't wait to see these girls together again next year!
Spring Sports are just around the corner. More information to come, but there will be a baseball information meeting right when we get back from break. Baseball, Softball, and Soccer schedules are in the process of a little rearranging, but are almost finalized and will be out soon!
Lifeguards
Teachers and Staff - a sheet has been shared with you that includes the names of students who are playing fall sports, their grade level, their coach, and their coach's contact info. If you feel contacting a coach about a student-athlete's behavior or performance in the classroom is necessary, please don't hesitate to do so. There has also been a gate duty sign-up sheet shared with you for the school year. If you work 4 gates, you earn a family pass or CYOW. If you work 8 gates, you get both!
Coaches - Please submit summaries and pictures of teams and/or individuals to georgeedmondson@galaxschools.us so that we can recognize those accomplishments. Please continue to not allow any student athletes to participate in games/meets/matches until they turn in their signed handbook page. In addition, please do not allow them to participate in any activity (practice or play) until you have a copy of their current VHSL physical.
Parents - Please return the signed athletic handbook form as soon as possible so we can get these student athletes on the court/field with their teams to wash out the competition. Please let us know if your student-athlete has participated and/or excelled in any athletics outside of school that we can recognize.
